(KFYI News) As college students go back to school, AAA Arizona has a list of rookie car mistakes to avoid.
- Letting someone borrow your car: If a student loans their car out and it gets wrecked, Mom and Dad will likely be the ones to pay it and suffer higher rates.
- Not getting renter's insurance: Renter's insurance can cover a student's other expensive items in case they get stolen and costs about $150 a year.
- Ignoring auto upkeep: It's important to regularly take the car in for oil changes and other maintenance issues.
- Not having a roadside emergency provider: It's important for students to have someone to call for help in an emergency. Even if they don't take their own car to school, an AAA membership still covers them in the event of an accident and can give parents some peace of mind.
